Medication Management Services
Medication should be a conversation, not just a prescription.
Deciding whether medication is right for you or your child can feel overwhelming. You may have questions about side effects, worry about changing someone’s personality, have had a frustrating experience with medication before, or simply not know where to start.
That’s okay.
At Chapter & Page Counseling, our medication management services are designed to be collaborative, thoughtful, and individualized. We take time to understand what’s happening, what you’ve already tried, what is working, and what you would like to be different.
Our goal isn’t to medicate away someone’s personality or make a child easier for the adults around them.
The goal is to help people feel and function better while remaining fully themselves.
Medication Management for Kids, Teens & Adults
Our psychiatric providers work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental concerns.
We commonly work with individuals seeking support for:
- ADHD and executive-functioning difficulties
- Anxiety and excessive worry
- Depression and mood concerns
- Autism and co-occurring mental health needs
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Sleep concerns related to mental health
- Trauma-related symptoms
- Behavioral and emotional concerns
- Other psychiatric and mental health needs
We also welcome people who already take psychiatric medication and need a provider for ongoing medication management.
We Take the Time to Understand the Whole Person
Medication decisions shouldn’t happen in a vacuum.
During your initial appointment, your provider will talk with you about your current concerns, medical and mental health history, medications you’ve previously tried, current medications and supplements, sleep, daily functioning, family history when relevant, and your goals for treatment.
For children and teens, we also want to understand what’s happening across environments—not simply whether they’re “behaving.”
A child struggling at school may be dealing with attention, anxiety, sensory overwhelm, learning differences, communication difficulties, sleep problems, environmental demands, or several things at once.
Understanding the why matters.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Medication Management
We work with many autistic and ADHD children, teens, and adults.
Our approach is not about trying to make someone appear less autistic or forcing a neurodivergent person to behave more neurotypically.
Instead, medication may be considered when symptoms or co-occurring concerns are making everyday life harder—for example, significant anxiety, depression, difficulty regulating attention, impulsivity, sleep problems, or other concerns that are causing distress or interfering with functioning.
We recognize strengths alongside challenges and include the individual and family in treatment decisions.
You Get to Ask Questions
We want you to understand what you’re taking and why.
If medication is recommended, your provider can discuss the intended benefit, potential side effects, alternatives, monitoring, and what to expect next.
And recommending medication doesn’t mean you have to take it.
Shared decision-making matters.
For parents, we also understand that choosing medication for your child can bring up a lot of feelings and questions. You deserve space to ask them without feeling pressured or judged.
Medication + Therapy Can Work Together
One advantage of receiving care at Chapter & Page is that medication doesn’t have to exist separately from everything else happening in your life.
When appropriate and with proper authorization, our psychiatric providers can collaborate with therapists and other members of your treatment team.
Chapter & Page also offers counseling, play therapy, family support, executive-functioning support, groups, autism and ADHD services, and psychological/testing services.
Some people need medication.
Some people need therapy.
Some benefit from both.
Treatment should be built around the person—not the other way around.
Already Taking Medication?
You don’t necessarily need to start over.
If you’re looking for a new medication-management provider, bring information about your current medications, previous medications, diagnoses, relevant records, and what has or hasn’t been working.
Your provider can review your history with you and discuss appropriate next steps.
Ready to Get Started?
Whether this is your first time considering medication or you’ve been taking psychiatric medication for years, we’re here to help you figure out what comes next.
New patients are welcome.
